Weekend Project : Continued

Alright, so this weekend with nothing to do I ran down to the local paint shop where I purchased some Pearl White automotive paint and some paint stripper. Stripped down the original paint job, gave the frame a light sanding with a 180 grit paper followed over by a 400 grit paper. Sand blasted all the welds and tight spots in which I couldn't get with the sand paper to get the following result.

Raw aluminium frame

After the frame was sanded and prepped for painting we whacked a primer on the frame (which can be seen below ) gave the primer a very light sanding with 1200 grit paper just to get any imperfections out of the primer coat, then the final coating of paint. Unfortunatly the paint which I received was the wrong paint (not the one on the colour chart I originally chose). Instead of running back down I decided to just go with the colour (more of a pearl grey than a pearl white).

Primer coat

Overall the job turned out alright so far, just waiting on a sticker kit before giving the clear coat on the frame, and a brake bleeding kit, which should be here by the end of the week. Everything for this bike that wasn't stock has been ordered of eBay. This job really wasn't that hard and really only would of taken a couple of hours (lucky I have just about everything I needed to do this job, ie. Air Compressor, Paint guns, sand blaster etc etc).

Final coat of paint without clear coat.
